The Northwest District has combined the duties and responsibilities of the Ministerial Credentials and Ministerial Studies Boards to create the Board of Ministry (BOM). This board consists of 24 members elected to serve for a 4-year term and organized around 4 geographic regional centers (Moscow, Spokane, Tri-Cities, Yakima). Each region is charged with the responsibility of providing consistent oversight in both education and experience throughout the entire ministerial preparation journey.
The BOM meets twice a year (Late Oct/early Nov and Late Feb/early March) and then the regions meet together at least one other time (end of January). Each board member is also a coach to one or more MIT’s and so connects regularly with them outside of board/region meetings.
The work of the BOM is facilitated by the BOM Executive Committee, whose responsibilities include but are not limited to overseeing the BOM, addressing special credentialing situations, and interviewing MIT’s seeking to clear a divorce barrier.
